New face for traditional roots

Branding, UI and Interaction design for Christ Church University. As a Lead Visual designer, my task was to develop a strategy alongside my Creative Director, and also consulting and working with the clients on various workshops and stand-us.

The main business goal was to change the face of the university to seem modern and open - the client was aware that the religiously sounding name may give a 'traditional' vibe which is not usually exciting amongst young people. ​ The challenge was to keep the rich heritage and professional feel of the uni while changing its face to appear fresh and welcoming towards young adults of all cultures and backgrounds. I started my process by creating UI concepts and branding mood-boards, jumping to interactions and the design system in the next stage. I worked very closely with a Senior UX designer as well as the dev team. It was very important to avoid looking flashy in any way - the answer to this problem is subtle interactions; all movement across the platform is very minimal. ​
